Choosing a gig bag for your melodeon

Start with the size of your instrument

The number of rows is a useful starting point, but melodeons with the same button layout can have different body sizes. Compare your instrument’s height, width and depth with the bag’s stated internal dimensions, allowing for projecting feet, fittings and straps.

Small single-voice bags: for compact instruments such as the Castagnari Lilly and similarly sized melodeons.
Two-row bags: for standard two-row, eight-bass instruments, subject to measurements.
2.5-row bags: for larger bodies and instruments with an extra part-row and eight to twelve bass buttons.
Three-row bags: for larger three-row instruments, with fit checked against the individual model.
