Sound and Character

The individual sound is an important part of choosing a restored concertina. Please contact us to discuss this Lachenal’s tone and how it may suit your playing.

Our View

At Squeezebox Marketplace, we know that choosing a pre-owned concertina is about the individual instrument. This Lachenal brings together metal ends, bone buttons and restoration by Alex Westlord: useful details for anyone considering a traditional Anglo.

Playability

The Anglo system produces different notes on the push and pull of the bellows. Its playing pattern is an essential part of its phrasing, so existing Anglo players will approach it differently from players moving across from English or duet concertina.

Bellows and Control

This instrument has six-fold bellows. Bellows direction shapes both the notes and the phrasing on an Anglo concertina, working alongside the fingering across both hands.

Musical Scope

The C/G tuning provides the starting point for repertoire centred on those keys. The 30-key format offers additional notes beyond a basic 20-key Anglo; suitability for particular tunes depends on the button layout.

Who Is It For?
